Canyon Wren
I am unsure as to whether I am starting a new chapter, or perhaps just a new paragraph, in my picture-taking journey. Recently a realtor asked if I would shoot an unusual property they were listing. Always up for something new I said yes. The property turned out to be a house built inside a cave on a 36-acre estate. The landscape comes complete with a natural spring that cascades down the mountain, briefly stopping at numerous pools until it finally disappears back into the ground. It would be a gross understatement to say that it is one of the most spectacular and beautiful places I have seen. Yes, I will be posting images of the house and the property.
It was there, early this morning, while I was trying to capture the waterfalls in golden light, that this Canyon Wren made its appearance. Wrens, as a rule, are brazen birds, exhibiting little to no fear of people. My experience with Canyon Wrens has been that they are on the more impertinent side of that spectrum. The male proved the point. He owned the cliff face he was on, and my presence wasn't going to interfere with the critical job of finding a mate. Of course, I was okay with that. I just stood there slack-jawed as I listened to the benevolence of his song and watched the glory of his beauty.
It seems as if I am provided a bounty of natures gifts daily. I live in humble gratitude of it. His benevolence in the slow unfolding of the majesty of creation is a miracle beyond imagination. I humbly remain His scribe.
