Scott's Oriole 2019
The migration party started late this year but when it hit it did so explosively. Last week I was lamenting the lack of Orioles and Hummingbirds in my yard. We had to travel this weekend and when we returned it was as if the stage had been reset and the curtain on a new act raised. So far this week we were entertained by six hummingbird species as well as Hooded and this Scott's Oriole. The Scaled and Gambel's Quail are in full force, careening about the yard like drunken teens. Even the Lewis's Woodpecker is still around.
But not all are present. I noticed that the daily dozens of Yellow-rumped Warblers are now gone. I will miss them and look forward to their return in fall.
I am extraordinarily blessed with the gift of the diversity of wildlife around me. I give thanks each day for the privilege to capture and share its beauty. I remain a scribe to His glory.
