Ruby-crowned Kinglet
All I have to say is this; if I landed on a thorn while some idiot had a giant lens sticking in my face, I would explode too.
This fantastic day started in Tubac hanging out with a kettle of birders. We watched enthusiaticly as Common Black Hawks (a lifer), Gray and Zone-tailed Hawks, accipiters and vultures flew over. It is rare for so many birders to be in one place, and it is always a great joy to get to meet the people we typically see only online.
Leaving there we decided to stop at Patagonia Lake. It was buzzing with birds including Lucy's, Townsend's, Black-throated Gray and Butterbutt Warblers, Neotropic Cormorant, Clarks Gebes and about fifty other species. Most prevalent was the Ruby-throated Kinglets which practically dripped from the trees. This stunning male must have had a female in its sights to have its namesake crown on full display. Pure magic!
We live in a wondrous world. I am grateful each day for the gift, loaned from God, to witness and share it. I remain His scribe.
