They are an apex predator, gliding over our waterways with eyes that can pierce the surface to find the fish they feed on. To watch an Osprey hunt is to witness the dark beauty created by the graceful movement of the hunt and its lethal conclusion.

On this day, we found an Osprey enjoying an enormous sushi dinner just off the soft shoulder of the Ding-Darling road. Standing across the street so that we would not bother him, we began to chronicle the moment. The raptor was seemingly oblivious to our presence, only stopping his feeding for a moment to glance up at the camera. And then he went on with his meal.
