Insomnaics Dream

Night came to the valley shrouded in a cloak of dark clouds and rain. Buried in this murky quagmire of mist and haze was any hope of an early morning sojourn to capture the spring season, low hanging trail of angels. So I retired for the night with the promise of pleasant dreams and rejuvenating rest.
Fates quirky whimsies and the frailties of being a certain age conspired to interrupt that rest. So it was that in the wee hours of new days' birth, I found myself wide-eyed, staring at the ceiling. Restless, and overcome with monotonous boredom, I ventured outside to see if I could find the Milky Way. To my joy, I was welcomed by the endless horizon of the southern Arizona high deserts cloudless sky, hemisected by the spectacular magnificence the grand galaxies arch.
In the distance, the last remnants of the evening's storm tenaciously clung to the ground, a thick fog that reflected the purple and blue hues of the night's sky. The distant mountains that in daylight tower over the landscape seemed small against the measure of our creator's grand panorama. And I, a lone man standing in the vast expanse of an infinite universe, experiencing an insomniac's dream, felt even more humbled and small. I have but the gift of his vision to share his grand design and unconditional love with this world. I pray it is enough.
I remain his scribe.
