Strawberry Moonlight at Parker Canyon Lake

A hitherto unknown, locked gate foiled our plan to shoot the rising Strawberry Moon at Parker Canyon Lake. With our dream of capturing a crystal rising orb and its leading reflection across the long narrow lake dashed by our unwillingness to walk a mile to the shooting spot, we decided to shoot from the less daunting boat dock. While it provided some interesting shots, it was, overall, unsatisfying.
So it was with a sense of failure that I packed up my kit and headed to the truck. Thankfully a good friend asked if I had looked at the lake opposite the risen moon. I had not.
Walking over to the railing, I saw that the entire landscape was stunningly lit in the cool blue hues of the full moons glow. This oasis in the southern Arizona high desert was spectacular! Our whole group unpacked their gear and settled in for a two-hour shoot, unlike anything any of us experienced before.
I sometimes forget that the joy of witnessing the magnificent beauty of this world is not an isolated venture. While I thank our Father daily for the miracle of grace He unveils to me; I often forget to give as much credit to my shooting companions for opening my eyes to that which I have not yet seen. I am grateful beyond my modest means with words to describe the power of their friendships.
