Southern Arizona Moon Rise

It's been a few months since I took a full moon shot. That is a long time, at least long in my timeline. Usually, I plan for meticulously for these shots. Mapping out my locations weeks in advance and knowing the exact time the moon will crest the horizon. Tonight I was watching The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel on Amazon Prime when Cindy came in and shoved me out of bed. I may not have mentioned it before, but she is the foundation on which my photography is built.

As soon as I left the house and saw the full moon rising over the one claret dyed spot in the Mule Mountains while pushing the classic southern Arizona high desert pink twilight ever higher, I knew I had to capture the moment. I am glad I did. I have hundreds of full moon shots - many having won awards - but none has ever spoken as profoundly to my love for this magical part of the desert like this one. I am in awe of the grandeur of his artistry and blessed beyond expression for the honor of capturing and sharing it with others.
