It can truthfully be said that any storm over the Huachuca mountains is a Thunder Storm but yesterdays foreshadow of the upcoming monsoon season did actually deliver real thunder. As I stood on a lonely piece of high ground on the far side of the San Pedro River, I was treated to a view unlike any other. In the foreground, desert plants, typically shades of brown at this time of year, shone emerald from the winter rains. Beyond them, the ancient cottonwoods that guard the banks of the San Pedro river rose like a fortress wall guarding the yonder valley. From my perch, I beheld the homesteads and farmlands that make up the southern tip of Sierra Vista and all of tiny Hereford. They appeared to be in a serene repose, untouched by the mountain fury behind them. But the best part of the view was the mountains. As the bloated cumulonimbus clouds bled out, they created a veil of refracted light that hid the peaks in subltle silhouetted shade. Juxtaposed against the verdant valley, it was a testament to the diverse creation of God. I was humbled to be its witness.
I am, now and to my eternal rest, His scribe.
