The Waterfall at Carr Canyon
Is there anything more beautiful than water in the desert? That great elixir coaxes life from a seemingly barren ground. The waterfall at Carr Canyon is as great an example of that beauty as I know. Although dry for most of the year, she gushes forth during snowmelt and monsoon with a splendid display of cascading liquid that turns all it touches into a verdant green landscape.
She was flowing today. You can see her mighty drop through the trees in the top of this image. From there her water flows down a long series of cascades until it reaches a parched valley floor that absorbs the nourishing sustenance in selfish gluttony. This is my first in a series examining the falls at Carr Canyon. It is a series I capture in homage to the miracle of beauty and creation so very visible in the southern Arizona high desert. I am blessed to be its witness and honored to be His scribe.
