Foggy Sunset

Foggy Sunset

With hope the impossible becomes feasible, and with faith the possible becomes probable. I should remember these words for If I live to witness a thousand sunsets I will have been blessed to witness a thousand unparalleled views, but of them all, I may never again see one as unique tonights.

This was a day bleak in its countenance, from its filtered first light through its final evening's tidings it was saturated with rain, low hanging clouds and a ground-hugging fog that obscured the views of my beloved mountains and valleys. By days end I had resigned myself to the notion that there existed no hope of the typically bedazzling southern high desert sunset of which I have become accustomed. Dispirited, I packed my camera away. I should have known better for this land of spiritual beauty never fails to reward those that call it home.

Settling in for the night, I lounged in the comfort of my favorite recliner when I heard the ever vigilant and hopeful voice of my beautiful bride call from across the house that I was missing something special. I learned long ago to carefully heed these calls. Joining her in our living room, I followed her gaze out the window. There, before us, in muted majesty, I saw a miracle of Gods beauty. While to the west the sun set in camouflaged secret through a muddy blanket of foamy fog and rain, to the south, shining out through a small gap in the clouds, beckoned the sole representative of the evenings final moments. Bathed in subtle pastel pink the day's last breath whispered a closing song of light and hope above a meandering river of billowy white clouds. It was, in its sublime subtlety, as commanding a sunset as I have ever seen.

Without my camera at hand, I had only one option available. I pulled out my iPhone and quickly rushed into the field across our street, praying it would be up to the task.

With hope the impossible becomes feasible, and with faith the possible becomes probable. Once again I have been humbled by the grace to capture the magnificent beauty of this world in image and verse. I am blessed to be His scribe.
