Pastel Sunset
Fences do not separate God from his majesty; borders do not exist in His realm. The brush that He paints with knows no restraint, its beauty no bounds. I was reminded of this last evening as the sun drifted below the skyline, painting the crisp sky and diffused ribbons of clouds in the warm pastel blue and orange hues of nightfalls rising. In front of me, across the border, stood San Jose Mountain, breaking up the view of an endless range while rising in glory towards the sky. A member of the immense Sky Island chain that traverses unshackled from Arizona into Mexico, she knows only a role of enhancing this worlds beauty.
In those waning daylight moments, as the mountains lost their detail to nights stealthy grip, a last remnant of sunlight shone from below the horizon, reflecting off the clouds to light the mountainside in brilliant magenta light. From the featureless darkness, there emerged a stunningly brilliant image of intricate shadow and light. To share that the moment struck me powerfully would be an understatement of incredible magnitude. It was a beauty so profound that it made me cry in joy. I pray that this image does it justice. I am humbled to have been its witness and blessed to be its scribe.
