Morning in Hereford

Morning in Hereford

In Southern Arizona, winter creeps forward slowly, passing through a muted fall season of fading colors in the lowland and vibrant displays of red, yellow and orange in the maple, oak, and aspen populated high peaks. The change can be felt in the broad sweep, often more than 30 degrees, between chilled nights and warm sunny days. It is that great discrepancy in the climate that brings the thick morning fog.

As the sun climbs over the horizon during this brief, passing season, it is diffused through the thick blanket of these low hanging clouds becoming softer and more soothing. The world seems to grow more tranquil, possessed of a deep serenity that is both unique and fulfilling. It was in this world that I stood this morning, alone, taking in the view, and at peace in communion with the vision of the Lord's great glory.

So it was that I was surprised out of my revelry by the sound of rapidly approached feet. Pivoting to find the source, I was shocked to see two horses galloping towards me. This was a first in the fields by my home. When they were about 50 yards away, they stopped, perfectly backlit by the rising sun. The vision was stunning. I thought the timing could not be a coincidence. This was a gift, a bonus from God to capture and share with the world to further illuminate the glory of His creation. I pivoted my camera and shot. I hope this image does justice to the scene. As always, I am humbled to be the scribe to His creation.
