Fire on the Mules II
One of the most exciting things about the Sky Islands in Southern Arizona is that each has their own personality. In the rolling Mule Mountains, it is the rimrock. On so many of the peaks, it appears that God has scraped away the surface skin to reveal the rock skeleton below. I find these mountains both unique and beautiful.
Standing on an overlook at Juniper Flats we were able to take in the rimrock capped mountains as one of the most intense lightning storms I have ever witnessed pounded their summits. Maybe it was centuries of lightning that stripped them bare?
