Chasing Windmills

Chasing Windmills

More than once on my journey to explore the high desert of southern Arizona I have felt like Don Quixote, that noble Spanish knight who tilted at windmills and dreamed of an impossible world where values rested on more chivalrous mores. It is not such an incredible leap.

As I stand alone in the fields, with the electronic static of constant information silenced and the glory of the world noiselessly unfolding in front of me, I can become transported to a place where living is simple and life more gracious. With my lens as my lance, I can subdue the gaudy embellishments of modernity, taming the giants and transforming them into images of serene tranquility and contentment.

By the grace of God, I have been allowed the privilege to witness the greatness of this oft-neglected and bypassed corner of the world. For that, I am truly blessed and humbled.
