Milky Way from Our Lady of the Sierras

Milky Way from Our Lady of the Sierras

Last week I posted a test image of the Milky Way arch over Our Lady of Sierra's shrine. That shot was a reference shot for what I hope is an image of the entire Milky Way spanning from the Shrine in the Huachuca's and extending over the distant Mule Mountains.

This image is the shot that went to shoot that night. The early season Milky Way is still low in the sky. This provided an opportunity to capture it passing behind the beautiful Celtic cross at the Shrine. For me, there is an intense spiritual symbolism in the play of crosses, especially at this time of year. I find the image of Gods Mighty creation of the cosmos passing over and behind man's testament to His sons redeeming sacrifice a tribute to the Easter / Passover season.
