The light was quickly rising behind us and the effervescent blood moons deep red shade had started to fade as it set into the distant Arizona mountains when I captured this image. I had dreamed of the moon sitting directly on the mountains, with a foreground of the tapering Coronado forest merging into the arid high desert plains, but that was not going to happen. Still, seeing this image, I feel like I captured a bit of everything I have come to love in Arizona. The staged ecosystems, the magnificent mountains and the vast, wide open view of the sky. This is a blessed place, one touched by the hand of God to humble us with the beauty He unveils.
