Blood Blue-Supermoon

Blood Blue-Supermoon

I have been blessed to see many incredible and awe-inspiring miracles of nature in my photographic adventures but few equal the spectacle of tonight's sky altering lunar eclipse. As we stood at the top of Coronado National Monument with Mexico on our left and the vast plains of Arizona flatland ahead of us, we watched the stars appear out of the dark as the moon went into totality.

Full moons immense light will typically wash out any sight of the stars in its background. Getting to see our lunar satellite surrounded by the infinity of stars in the cosmos was a surreal experience. Stars are not white, but rather a host of blues, reds, yellows, and oranges. I was pleased that this shot picked up some of that color.
