Few birds in the animal kingdom equal the beauty and grace of a hummingbird, and few hummingbirds equal the majesty and elegance of the Magnificent Hummingbird.

They are one of the many hummingbirds that spend time in Arizona during the waning months of summer, and our trip south was highlighted by their appearance.

This is the first of a series of portraits I am creating of the hummingbirds we saw. It will be followed by a series of them in flight. I hope to create two posters and a series of prints from the results.

I hope you enjoy
