As I stood in a semi-fallow field of the southern Arizona high desert and watched the day begin, momma cow and her new calf were my only company. As I stared across the horizon there was a moment, just as civil twilight settled and the golden hour rose, when the fading belt of venus caught the emerging crepuscular beams of the birthing sun to paint an aurora of subtle purple hues in the brightening sky. It was a powerful flash of radiant beauty that evoked happiness in me that has been missing these past few weeks.

It is these moments of renewal, in the witness of new life and new beginnings, that bolsters and supports my spirit and faith. In the night sky, I see the infinite power of the eternal, but at daylights start, I find the proof that with every loss there is a gain. For that, I am truly blessed.

I remain His scribe.
