Hitchcock's World

Hitchcock's World

When we first moved to the Huachuca Mountains our real estate agent told us the silhouette of Coronado Mountain and its adjacent summit looked like Alfred Hitchcock lying down with his arms resting across his chest. It took a few months for that image to appear for me. Now that it has, it is all I will ever see when I look at that view.

Last night I was shooting a storm to the north when I turned around and saw the Milky Way rising above Coronado Mountain. While on one side of me storms raged the sky above Coronado was relatively clear. I immediately turned my camera around and started shooting a series of images to stack into a Milky Way landscape.

As I reviewed the images later, I found this single shot with a furious storm exploding near San Jose Mountain, the Milky Way gracefully rising over Hitchcock's silhouette and an unimaginable cloud formation in the center of it all. It occurred to me that this was Arizona at its nighttime finest. Roiling storms, majestic clouds, and a crystal clear solar system guiding the soul to the infinite beyond existing altogether in perfect harmony. It is a metaphor for life. It is a vision of wonder. It is my paradise. And, it is gratefully where my heart now lives. I am blessed to be its scribe.
